Here's a joke: How can you tell if a person is a vegan? Don't worry, they'll tell you.
I am a vegan. But the only reason I ever tell people is if I believe there is a chance that if I do not, I may ingest something that could cause an unpleasant reaction in my stomach (i.e., a friend asks me out to dinner, etc). Otherwise, I simply say no to baked-good offerings, samples, and the like. I don't go around self-righteously touting my own vegan-horn.
Being a vegan isn't easy...on top of the fact that I work to physically be a vegan, I am constantly having to deal with skepticism, criticism, and explaining.
I don't force my diet on you, do I? No. I make my own food, try not to be a hindrance, and keep my mouth shut.
That said, some people, rather than immediately going into "oh-my-god-thats-so-weird-why" mode, genuinely appreciate my self-control and dedication. To those people: thank you.
So, this blog is not only to document my lifestyle, but to explain my choices, and help others to make choices that they want to make:)
